If you’re trying to sort through which on-ear headphones are the best, it can be a difficult task. Something to keep in mind that there’s not necessarily one on-ear headphone that’s “The Best” one out there but it’s more about which one is the best for you. Whichever one you choose, there’s always going to be some tradeoff’s. For example, one choice might be the most comfortable but not have quite as much detail in the mids and highs as another option.
So in this review, I’ll share with you which on-ear headphones represent the best choice depending on what your priorities are. I’ll be comparing and contrasting everything from comfort to sound quality so that you can make a more informed decision about which one would be best suited for you.
Although Beats has produced a number of headphones that are overpriced and sound quite a bit worse compared to similarly priced headphones, the Beats Solo 2 changes all that. Besides having a supurb bass response it also does a remarkable job with the mids and highs.
That being said, there are some reasons you might want to go with something else which I’ll talk more about as I get into the features, sound quality and compare it to other headphones.
Sony is known for not only making great sounding headphones, but headphones that are easy to use in everyday life. The Sony MDR XB450AP are a perfect example of this. If you’re looking for a pair of lightweight and comfortable headphones with great bass for less than $50, these might be the ones to get.
That being said, they won’t be the perfect choice for everyone which I’ll cover in this review as well.
Audio Technica is known for producing some of the finest headphones on the planet. The M-series in particular have become one of the most popular headphones because of how great they sound and how well built they are for the money. The ATH-M30X stands out because it’s hard to find headphones that sound this good for under $50. That being said, they won’t be the perfect choice for everyone which I’ll discuss in this review as well.
