Pamu Slide Plus Case and Earbuds Open

Pamu Slide Plus Totally Wireless Earbuds Review

Today I’m reviewing the Pamu Slide (created by Padmate) which is a totally wireless earbud. These have a lot of great features including the ability to automatically pair with your phone and the charging case can also be used to charge your phone as well.

And while these do sound incredible with certain genres of music, other genres don’t fair quite as well which I’ll be talking about in my impressions so far using these.

Now currently there is a promotion going so you can check the current promotional price at Indiegogo.

Accessories, Design & Features

So I’ll start out by showing you the accessories and then give you a closer look at the design and features.

Accessories

Included with these earbuds is a portable charging case, a usb to C charging cable, a few different ear tip sizes and a manual.

Design, Features & Build Quality

The charging case is made of aluminum and it’s design makes it easy to charge the earphones. You slide the cover open and they magnetically attach when you put them in. So they’ll stay put and it insures they are making a good connection so you’ll always know they’re actually charging.

One cool feature about the charging case is that when you turn it upside down, it can function as a charger for your phone. There’s a button on the back you press to activate this feature and it works great! It’s not a quick charge (which is expected) but again, a handy feature to have.

One downside to the charger is that because of it’s size, it’s not as convenient for carrying in your pocket. Also, I noticed some scuff marks on the outside of the case that I received which didn’t make a good impression as this is supposed to be brand new.

Also I found the design of the charging case a bit awkward in that the left and right earbuds are backwards in how they’re stored. So I keep finding myself trying to put them in the wrong place, because my natural inclination is to put the left earbud on the left side (inside of the right side where it’s supposed to sit in the case).

But otherwise, the case and earphones are durable, and I like how easy it is to access the earphones from the case.

Features

Then when looking at the features, these do a great job delivering a lot of the features you’d want in earbuds like these.

They have an IP6 water resistance rating which means they’re designed for the active user and as a result, can handle lots of sweat and heavy rain just fine.

Each earbud gives you up to 10 hours of battery life per charge. And you can use each one independently which means you could have up to 20 hours of use if you use them one at a time.

The charging case will fully charge the earphones 5 times before it needs to be recharged. So you have around 50 to 100 hours of potentially being able to use these depending on whether you use the earbuds as a pair or individually.

These earbuds also support fast charging so as an example, for every 5 minutes of charging time in the case, your earbuds will receive 1 hour of battery life.

There are touch controls on each earbud which allow you to pause and play songs, as well as raising and lowering the volume. You can also answer and reject phone calls and you can use voice assistance from either Siri or Google.

The earbuds use bluetooth 5.0 to connect to your device. And since they’re using a more modern chip, the bluetooth connection works a lot better through walls and it doesn’t get affected as much in areas where lots of other bluetooth devices are being used.

So as an example, you’ll notice a huge difference while using these when running. Because you can have your phone in your pocket, on your arm or anywhere on your body and you’ll have a solid connection the whole time.

There’s also no latency problems so you can use these while watching Netflix or YouTube and not have people’s lips out of sync with the audio.

Call quality is really good. In fact it’s some of the best I’ve experienced of any earbud I’ve used. The downside is that because these provide such a good seal, you get that weird inner voice sound when you hear yourself talk which I find really distracting and annoying. So as a result, I don’t like using these for phone calls, though the person on the other end can hear you really well.

Comfort

The comfort is ok but not great. While initially I can wear them fairly comfortably, after about an hour or so, I start to want to take them out. And that’s just due to the weight and hard plastic feel of the earbuds in my ears.

So these were great for using while working out or exercising as that’s not something I do for more than an hour. But if I tried using these for longer periods of time while working on the computer, I found the discomfort started to grow over time, especially by the 90 minute mark.

And then even if I tried to wear them later on in the day, they start to get uncomfortable to wear almost immediately so i find i can use these comfortably about 30-6o minutes per day, then i just have to wait a day before using them again.

But these do an excellent job of staying put in your ears, even while running or working out.

So for me personally, these are perfect for using once a day for around an hour, but they’re unfortunately not something I can use for extended listening sessions like wearing them around the house for several hours a day.

Noise Isolation

Regarding noise isolation, these are above average for this type of earbud. And that makes these great for using in a gym, or outside or using public transportation where you want to be able to hear what you’re listening to while also dampening the environmental noise around you.

Sound Quality

And then, regarding the sound quality. Overall, these sound great with some genres and not so great with others.

There’s a little bit of emphasis in the low-end which does a nice job bringing more contemporary genres to life. So listening to popular music, rap, and especially electronic or dance music sounds incredible on these.

Listening to Lyndsey Stirling as an example sounds awesome because her music has an electronic feel and the weightier presentation of the low end that you you get from these earbuds as well as a lively tuning really brings her style of music to life.

So her style of music along with other more contemporary genres sound incredible as you can really feel the music. That along with the clarity, detail and good vocal presentation makes for a really enjoyable listening experience.

The downside is when listening to more classical genres, take piano guys for instance. It literally sounds like you’re listening to their music from behind a curtain. And I found myself not wanting to even listen to the rest of the song. You lose the emotion, so while you’re hearing the music, you’re not feeling it.

And that’s not necessarily a bad thing, it’s just a trade off. Because the benefit to this style of tuning is that more contemporary genres sound much better than you’d expect at this price point.

The mids and upper frequencies have good clarity, you can make out details in the background, and the upper treble region is softened just a bit which again, makes these great for listening to in noisier environments like a gym or going for a run outside. That way if you start to turn the volume up, you’re not as likely to damage your hearing as you would with a more bright sound signature.

REASONS NOT TO GET THESE

So what are the reasons you might want to consider something else?

Well if you listen to really bass heavy music you’ll notice the bass tends to get muddy sounding. So if that’s mostly what you listen to, then that’s something to consider.

If you prefer a more bright sound signature or more neutral sound over a stronger bass presence. Meaning, if you want more detail in the higher end frequencies or a more natural presentation overall as opposed to more feeling in the low end, then these may not be a good fit.

Also, if you want a charging case you can easily carry in your pocket then this case may be a bit too large if you want to do that all the time.

And finally, if you’re looking for truly wireless earbuds that you can wear several hours at a time, then depending on how your ears react to the weight and hard plastic feel of the housing, this may be a deal breaker for some.

FINAL THOUGHTS

But otherwise, the overall features and sound quality make these an excellent choice and an incredible value. You get a massive amount of battery life, the ability to charge your phone, quick charging of your earphones, a strong and stable bluetooth connection, automatic pairing, incredible call quality, good passive noise isolation and these sound really good with many genres of music, especially more contemporary genres.

Right now, these are currently my favorite earphone to use for doing daily workouts and exercising. Because of all the benefits I mentioned earlier, it makes these the best choice I’ve found so far to use in this scenario.

If you have a particular situation or style of music you listen to that you’d like me to address, please don’t hesitate to post a comment below and I’d love to share any additional information that I can.

Also, if you’re interested in these they’re currently being offered at a promotional price at Indiegogo.

Otherwise, thanks so much for watching and I look forward to seeing you in the next video!
